Our story

Designed for the rhythm of the day

From sunrise to last call

Nimble began as the vision of David Kerr — an entrepreneur, hospitality obsessive, and the creative mind behind several beloved coffee and cocktail spaces across the Midwest. After years of dreaming up a place that could shift effortlessly from sunrise coffee to late-night cocktails, David set his sights on River North Chicago, determined to build something that felt both grounded and alive.

Partners with intention

As the idea grew, so did leadership. David brought in one of the most important people in his life — Kristofer McGhee, his friend of 20 years, to join as strategic partner and co-owner. With David’s all-day hospitality experience and Kris’s sharp instincts and vision for excellence, Nimble became a place with real heart and intention. And with a desire for making customers feel welcome and part of a community.

Built to move with the city

Set inside the historic Bush Temple building in River North, Nimble is an all-day café, market, and cocktail bar built to move with the rhythm of the city. Coffee that starts your morning right. Thoughtful grab-and-go food that fits the day. Cocktails that feel like a reward. Warm service that feels human.

The hummingbird spirit

We chose the hummingbird to represent us in our logo. They move independently. They return to places that sustain them. Those shared spaces become their version of community. Nimble aims to create that same feeling — a place you return to because it holds something meaningful for you.
